土壌は、過去に生きた者たちの営みとその存在の集積によって形成される。
生まれ、育ち、還っていく生命の循環を内包する土にはそこに眠る者たちの様々な記憶が宿っている。
例えば、降り注ぐ太陽の光と大地の色、繁茂する緑のざわめき、そして他者に触れた温かな感触。
これらは私の目の前で起こっている出来事であると同時に、過去の者たちが見ていた風景や感覚とも繋がっている。
私は土に触れる行為を、過去との対話として捉えている。
そこから生まれる創作は、私自身の想像や経験を通して、不在の者たちの記憶を形にする。
立ち現れる風景の断片は、今この瞬間と混ざり合い、私の記憶の一部となっていつの日か再び土へ還っていく。
それは特別な事象ではなく、普遍的で小さな循環の物語である。

Suzuki Emi / 1984, born in Shizuoka, Japan. Based in Kanagawa and Shizuoka. Graduated from Nagoya College of Art and Design. After teaching himself to draw, he began his career as an acrylic painter. Later, prompted by changes in his living environment, he started creating works using earth (soil). Influenced by traditional Japanese plastering techniques and fresco methods, he developed a unique approach in which the soil used as a material is not fired, allowing its natural colors and properties to remain as they are within the work. Soil is a substance formed from the lives and very beings of those who came before us. Engaging with it is understood as a dialogue with those who are absent. With this perspective, he primarily creates two-dimensional works that explore the theme of memory embedded within the earth.

1984年静岡県生まれ。神奈川県、静岡県を拠点に活動。名古屋造形芸術短期大学卒業。独学で絵を描き始めアクリル画作家として活動後、生活環境の変化をきっかけに土を使った作品の制作を始める。日本の伝統的な佐官技術やフレスコの技法に影響を受けた独自の画法により、画材となる土は焼成せず、原土の持つ色や特性はそのまま作品へ生かされている。土は過去を生きた者たちの営みと彼らそのものからできた物質である。その土と接することは不在の者たちとの対話であると捉え、土に宿る記憶をテーマに主に平面作品を制作している。
